Options for Publications and Presentations

Displaying how we might be able to change the system to smooth out and speed up the application process while still retaining the level of detail needed for scoring.

  • Option 1: Just request programs enter counts for articles, presentations, chapters/textbooks, etc using something like the table below. They will also have to upload some sort of supporting documentation (e.g. a listing of PMIDs; completely bibliography for program listing everything represented in the counts; faculty / fellow CVs). The first row is the total count of articles, presentations, etc. For articles and presentations, they’re required to further break it down by number involving faulty or number involving fellows (in the second and third rows). The total should greater than the count by faculty or fellows, but less than or equal to the sum of the counts by faculty and fellows. Only total number is requested for the other categories, solely because it is not necessary for the metrics to collect this info in any greater detail. The fourth row includes a description of what we’re asking for in the scholarly activity category, and can be included as a hover-over text or just included below the table as additional info.
  • Peer Reviewed Journal Articles (2014-2016)

Number of peer reviewed journal articles published between 1/1/2014 and 12/31/2016. You will be required to upload a document listing the PMIDs for each article included in the count above. PubMed ID (PMID) is a unique number assigned to each PubMed record. This is generally an 8 character numeric number. Do not include articles without PMIDs in the counts.

  • Other Presentations (2014 – 2016)

Number of other presentations given (e.g. grand rounds, invited professorships, etc) by faculty and/or fellows between 1/1/2014 and 12/31/2016.

Number of Chapters or Textbooks published, materials developed (such as computer-based modules), or work presented in non-peer review publications by faculty and/or fellows between 1/1/2014 and 12/31/2016. Articles without PMIDs should be included as well. This will include publications which are peer reviewed but not recognized by the National Library of Medicine.
